Get ready for some broader broadband!

Demand for broadband internet is at an all time high, and the days of dialup are far behind us (for the most part). This giant map below shows just how widespread it is these days (Aww, poor Alaska!). In general, the average speeds that a normal consumer is willing to dish out cash for, is somewhere between 1mbps and 50mbps. Certainly nothing to gawk at, when compared to the blistering 0.054mbps that could be achieved over dialup (assuming your phone line wasn’t garbage, and your ISP was able to handle speeds that incredibly fast…). Google: Google Body

Fresh from the land of Google: Google Body. Google now has a fully interactive 3D anatomy web app for the masses. It harnesses the magic of WebGL, so if you are using an older web browser, you’re not going to be able to enjoy this at all. Make sure you grab the latest release of Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox (it might work in IE… but who cares?).  Even if you have no interest in the inner workings of the human body, it’s still fun to press buttons and twirl the body about! For even more fun, check out the cow too.

Enjoy folks!

Google: Instant Pages

In case anyone missed Google’s latest update for their browser, Chrome, get ready for a nice little speed boost. The newest update adds a feature called “Instant Pages”. When you are using the latest version of Chrome, and you visit Google’s search page, Chrome will examine the available search results, and start pre-loading results that it believes you will most likely click on. The result is that once the page has been pre-loaded, you are just a click away from having the page appear with no load time what so ever. Check the video below for a demonstration.
