New look, better spam…

Hotmail isn’t the only site in town that is changing it’s look and feel. TheParaverse is undergoing some modifications as well. Not sure if it’s going to stay like this permenantly, but this is the latest look of the site. The old layout was too laggy, and wasn’t very mobile friendly. The new layout should look good no matter how you look at it. Colors, images, etc are still subject to change, but so far we like the layout in general.

In addition to just looking completely different, posts should show up on Facebook under our name, rather than some 3rd party blog syndication network. You should also be able to comment on posts via your Facebook account now as well. If you likey, click Like!

Get ready for some broader broadband!

Demand for broadband internet is at an all time high, and the days of dialup are far behind us (for the most part). This giant map below shows just how widespread it is these days (Aww, poor Alaska!). In general, the average speeds that a normal consumer is willing to dish out cash for, is somewhere between 1mbps and 50mbps. Certainly nothing to gawk at, when compared to the blistering 0.054mbps that could be achieved over dialup (assuming your phone line wasn’t garbage, and your ISP was able to handle speeds that incredibly fast…). Now there’s some movement to make current squabbling between a few measly mbps seem almost as silly as the squabbling between the 28.8k and 56k offerings of dialup…
